J & J has National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certified fire inpectors. We want to be a part of your team and provide you a piece of mind with our Fire Door inspections.

Door inspections are crucial to your facilities fire safety protocol. Annual Fire Door inpections are enforced in the state of Illinois as well as Scott County and Clinton County. While it may not be a requirement for your county, Iowa counties in the J & J trade area such as Muscatine, Jackson and Dubuque should consider a Fire Door inspection. You should always refer to your local Fire Door inspection codes to ensure proper safety procedures.

What does a Fire Door inspection involve? Our certified inspectors will come out and take a look at your door, and frame to ensure it meets the criteria detailed by the NFPA. There are two main steps to the inspection, the visible inspection and operational inspection. Some things the inspector will be looking at during the visual inspection include: legible and clearly visible labels, no missing or broken parts, secured and aligned hardware, and for any signs of field moldification. Things that the inspector will be looking at during the operational inspection include: the door completely closes when operated from the fully open position, the latching hardware secures and operates the door, and that auxillary hardware items on the door do not restrict its function. Additional inspection may take place for automatic-closing doors, power-operated doors, and pairs of doors.

With the help of your certified J & J inspector you can be confident your fire doors are fully operational and in working order!
